The arithmetic section of the Accuplacer exam contains seventeen questions. The arithmetic questions test your knowledge of basic arithmetic functions.

The types of arithmetic questions that have appeared on past Accuplacer tests include the following:

1) Multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction of whole numbers, fractions, and mixed numbers

2) Estimating problems

3) Recognizing equivalent fractions and decimals

4) Multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction of decimals and percentages

5) Problem-solving questions, including problems dealing with measurement, distribution, and rate

Problem solving questions are expressed in words, like a story or narrative, rather than as an arithmetic equations. In problem solving questions, you must work out what arithmetic equation is needed in order to solve the problem.
